Right… let’s talk about HYROX.

Truth be told, if you told me two years ago that I’d complete one HYROX race, I would’ve not believed you.

Never mind five. This year I did five races. It started with a doubles half simulation in September 2025.

The new year came and had a Solos simulation booked for end of January. After that came another race. Then another. Then a solo. Then another doubles. Before I knew it, I had five patches sitting at home.

But lately I’ve been asking myself a question. Did I actually want to do five HYROX races? And spend all that money.. I don’t want to think about the Money.. Or was I just chasing the next patch because that’s what everyone else was doing? I’ve realised I have this habit of turning everything into another achievement. I did it with bodybuilding. I spent months preparing for a show that never happened, and if I’m honest, the process left me with a really unhealthy relationship with food. It took me a long time to enjoy training again. Becoming a Hybrid Rockstar gave me that enjoyment back. It reminded me that training could have purpose without staring at myself in the mirror wondering if I was lean enough.

But then something funny happened. The goal became another race. Then another. Then another. And somewhere along the way I forgot to stop and ask myself…Why?

The funny thing is, I don’t actually dream about collecting medals or patches. What I’ve always wanted is something much simpler.

I want to be strong. Strong in my mind. Maybe that’s why this blog exists. Because I’m trying to catch myself before I automatically jump onto the next treadmill of achievement. Why do I feel like I need to prove I’m fit by doing a bodybuilding show? Why do I feel like my hobbies have to become achievements? What if I just trained because I loved lifting weights? What if I never signed up for another race again?

I’m not saying I’ll never do another HYROX or try again at bodybuilding. But if I do, I want it to be because I am genuinely excited about it—not because I feel like I need another medal, another patch, or another achievement to prove something.

Because maybe the strongest thing we can do isn’t always pushing for more. Maybe sometimes it’s having the confidence to say,“I’m happy with where I am, and I’m choosing this because I want to not cause I have something to prove”.
